When you are on Mac OS, using a FTP-client, you will not find any option with the term chmod, but as the term is explained in you find that it is explained as follows: Quote: | * Chmod [Change mode] A method of changing the permissions of a file on a UNIX server. |
If you use the good old Fetch, you just highlight the directory (folder) you want to change the permissions of, and choose Remote>Set Permissions. You will then get a window with 3 rows with 3 checkboxes in each. The first row is Owner which is you. The second is Group which are the registered users of your board, for instance. The third is Everyone which is.. exactly; absolutely everyone! The permissions you can give, are Read, Write and Search/Execute. You check the boxes for the permissions you will give each category.
What these permissions are, you can read about in this excellent article about Chmod.
In other ftp-clients, like Transmit, you may have to use Get Info after highlighting a folder, and you will get a similar window. (Transmit uses World instead of Everyone, but the meaning should be clear)
Someone who knows MacOSX will perhaps write about how it works there.
