 Daylight savings time
Description: Information regarding how phpBB (doesn't!) support DST.

phpBB 2.0.x does not in any way support daylight savings time. All times are based from GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) which is fixed throughout the year.

If you do not like phpBB 2.x displaying "CET (Europe)" for example you can do one or more of several things. Firstly you can just ignore it, if your users "complain" simply let them know the situation.

Alternatively alter the relevant language file/s and change the entries for $lang['{NUMERIC}'] (where {NUMERIC} ranges from -12 -> 12 and found from line 872 onward) to only specify "GMT +/- hour", e.g. "GMT + 1 Hour" rather than say "CET (Europe)". This would 'bring it in line' with other forum software.

You can advance the time in your profile ahead one hour.

You can deploy one of the mods made available by various people (note this may, depending on the mod and how it operates, effect future updates).

Please DO NOT post this as a bug, it's not (not as far as we're concerned anyway), doing so just wastes our time in having to respond to it, close it and confirm it. Please DO NOT message (email, PM, IM, etc.) developers, moderators or support group members over this, your message may very well be ignored. Please DO NOT post to the forums demanding a change (however 'nicely' you put it, such posts will invariably be locked), keep in mind this software is free and pushing for something to be changed is generally not a good way to see it happen.

In phpBB 2.2 this will likely be addressed. In a future point release of phpBB 2.0.x we may well re-issue the language files to remove localised naming of timezones (which is the contencious issue here ... GMT + 1 never changes, CET does).
