Many questions regarding these two have come up both in the installation and support forums. PHP 4.2.0/4.2.1/4.2.2 will not run properly on Apache 2.x yet. If at all possible, downgrade to Apache 1.3.26 and many of your problems will more than likely be solved. If not, search first and post accordingly. If your host refuses to downgrade, you will need to find another host. If you do have phpBB running on this combination, power to you but for the droves that can't get it to work, please considering downgrading or talking to your host as appropriate.

Edit: Using recent versions of Apache 2 and PHP, there does not appear to be any more problems.
