If you are thinking of going to Free Host Ultra then here is a step by step in how to get your board up and running as fast a possible. I will not go into backing up your forum and restore it, because there are other articles about that:

1) First off, you have to sign up and get a lot of spam mail. Small price to pay but you could aways open a yahoo account and send the junk mail there.

I will give you the first month free but after that, your on your own:

Click here to go to the home page.

Click here to see a list of all our earning partners.

Click here to collect some more 'free' ipoints.

2)This could be your first step or secound. It really doesn't matter but get a FTP program. It will save alot of headach. There are two out there WS_FTP LE and SmartFTP. In fact you don't need this but after you can't login to the FTP server don't come crying to me.

I used 'WS_FTP LE' so I would be telling you how to configure it:

Host Name/Address: www(1,2,3).freehu.com
Host Type: UNIX (standard)
User ID: username@www(1,2,3).freehu.com
Password: your password*
Account: leave this blank

You will get in a email telling which (1,2,3) server you will be using. Use this to down load the blank forum to you site.

3) Go to the Account Control Panel and you need to trun on MySql. Now comes the hard part: You must now wait 12 hours to use the database. Rolling Eyes Go have tea and coffee while waiting.

After the wait, go to the address that they have given you through emil (plus any "forum/" or "phpbb2/" you might have used during upload. This is the info you need to install the board:

Database Configuration:

server: localhost
database name: username
database username: username
database password: your password*
Prefix for tables in database: phpbb_

Admin Configuration

Admin Email: enter an email address
Domain Name: www(1,2,3).freehu.com (you must remove the extra "www." that apears)
Server Port: 80
Script Path: (will have already filled out anyway, don't change anything!)
Administrator Username: enter an admin name
Adimistrator Password: enter a password for access to administrator areas
Admistrator Password (confirm): re-enter the password

*You must enter the password for the database to work. This is the same password for both FTP and Account Control Panel. This is a payoff because of the 12 hour wait you have to go through.

Please don't put 'username' as I have it. Use the one you sign up with!

If it asks you to upload a config.php file, do it! Load it on your computer and then reload it, into you forum.

4) If all is working then you should get something like this:

Quote:
"Once you have succssfully installed phpBB 2.0.1 you MUST ensure you remove install/ and contrib/. Leaving these in place is a very serious potential security issue."

I won't delet them from your computer in case you have to move to a new host. Also read up on the contrib/README.html file.
